Time flies when your having fun

All I can say is wow, did this semester fly by. Starting this course was honestly very nerve-racking. Last semester I had a few friends who were in the course and they made it clear that it was a lot of work. There words proved to be true but I am always down for the challenge.  My experience with the social media course was very challenging for me. The only social media website I ever post anything to is my Instagram account. Other then that, I have never used Twitter and I never post anything to Facebook. This course taught me how to utilize all the social media websites in a business sense. Running a businesss' Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts are a lot different then running any personal social media accounts. One of the biggest challenges I had were remembering to tweet and remember to post on Instagram. However, throughout the semester I was able to get more and more consistent with my posts and become more creative.

If I were to go on and make this into a real thing, I would have a good head start and a darn good social media campaign. The platforms I used the most were Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Blogger. Soundcloud and Vine were fun to mess around with but we didn't spend much time with them. If I were to keep any of the platforms for a real business sense, I would keep Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and Instagram. With the capability to link almost all your social media sites, gives you a open range to hit as many people who are in your target market using those sites. They are also different in there own way's so you are able to do a variety of advertisements, sales, and promotions.

The knowledge this class has taught me will be used throughout my time in school and when I enter the real world. It was awesome to get to know and understand how social media sites can be used by business especially with the digital era we are in. I am excited to see where the knowledge I learned will be applied in my future careers.

On Board

We all want to say, the hair is awesome. We can't wait for the rest of No Shave November to see what you all got. Keep those hairs growing and don't forget about our amazing beard products and also those super stylish blaze pink hats to bring in the hunting season! We want to warn you that after No Shave November is complete, we will no longer be selling these promotional items so get yours while supplies last!

This week we have some  exciting news regarding a mobile app designed specifically for people who love to listen to music while they cruise around on a longboard. The app is called On Board. The app is made to connect long boarders with other long boarders through music. Once you have created a profile, you are able to download all your favorite tracks or playlists so that other riders can tune in on what your favorite tracks are to listen to while you are cruising. The app also gives you the ability to mark down where your favorite hills or paths are so that other long boarders in the area can have a sweet spot or just simply find someone to ride with. Don't get too excited just yet, the best news is still to be heard. On Board will be a FREE mobile app and will be available before Thanksgiving. We want to thank all of you for being the people you are and we look forward too seeing those beards and legs the rest of the month.  Here is a sneak peak of the icon for the app!

Wilderness goes hairy

Last week was awesome! I hope everyone had as much fun as we did. We want to give a huge thanks to all of you who came out to support us. We can't thank you enough. A HUGE shoutout to all the racers, we couldn't have done it without you and also the first, second, and third place finishers. We hope to make this bigger and better for next year so we can't wait to go back. For the month of November, the team wanted to do something with No Shave November at the shop because we are all participating in it. For the whole month of November, if you come into the shop unshaved, you will receive a 20% discount on your purchase. Ladies this also applies to you. If you are a female participant and don't shave your legs, you will also be eligible for the discount. We want it to be fair for all gender types!

To help keep those beards nice and in control men, we have just the thing. For the month of November, we will be selling Billy Jealousy Beard Envy. This is an awesome product that gives you a three step guide to a clean and controlled beard. The first bottle is a bottle of beard wash. The key ingredients Inside are Aloe Leaf Juice that hydrates and softens your skin and beard, soy protein that shines and conditions your beard, and also green tea extract that makes your beards stronger. The second bottle is called beard control. The main ingredients in this bottle are also aloe leaf juice, PVP which helps for styling, Jojoba seed oil that acts as a stimulant and shines, and also the vitamin panthenol to condition. With all these amazing ingredients its hard not to want to control your beard. You can find all this information on their website and also when you come in to the store. Here's a picture of what it looks like followed by a  link to their official website where you can find all of this information and more!

Last week a new bill passed in Wisconsin stating that starting in November, all hunter's will be able to wear blaze pink if they want instead of blaze orange. With that being said, here at Wilderness we support all things outdoors and we have starting in November, blaze pink beanies, snapbacks, t-shirts, and also sweatshirts with our logo on them in all sizes. We are beyond excited to see the hair grow through the rest of the month and give you all great deals. For all you hunters out there, have fun, be safe, and good luck!

Downhill Jam

We can all say, last night was a success evening. We want to thank all of you who came out and a special thanks to everyone who dressed up. We all couldn't stop talking about how awesome they all were! We want to again congratulate the winners of the contest and the raffle. We can't wait for the next holiday event to take place.

This week we hope you are all ready to travel. We are super excited to be hosting our first downhill jam! We are hosting the race in Lacrosse, WI on Saturday, November 7 at 10:00 AM. The course is designed to be almost completely downhill with a  few spots where it flattens out. It's a closed course so nobody has to worry about cars, but you are all still required to full protective gear. The rules are simple, every rider will complete the course one by one under a time clock. The fastest time wins. It's an all age event but we want to warn you it's a difficult course, so we only want experienced riders. You can sign up for free through our Facebook page, in the store, or at the event. If you were wondering why we chose Lacrosse, it's because one of our employees grew up riding his longboard through the bluffs and knew the perfect spot we could host this at. We also want to give you all a chance to compete in a sport that doesn't have many competitions. We wish you all the best of luck and can't wait to see you all there! As an incentive to sign up in the store, you will receive a free Wilderness Boards snapback as a token for our appreciation after the event. We will be posting on Facebook any new details that come about. There are even rumors of someone coming from Loaded's skate team! If you get the chance to, take a look at our commercial created on Magisto! Good luck.
